Happy Birthday Biakuren

Dear Friends,

it has been a chilly start to 2008 but bracing nonetheless.  I do hope you have fully recovered from the january blues and are well on the way to Valentine dementia.

Back in November I emailed you saying I wouldn’t be playing for a while, but would let you know when this changed… well, change is a slow dripdripdrip or a sudden splurt… often one then the other!

In that vein, I have a gig coming up that is a new splurt of a challenge, and I’d love it if you were free to come along and check it out.

It’s Saturday March 1st 2008 at a night called Power Down, a carbon-neutral live music event at the Islington Arts Factory, the fourth in the series.

“Power Down is the idea that modern citizens can have a night of musical entertainment without leaving a huge carbon footprint. That means no lights, no refrigeration, and most importantly…no amplification.” (Marmaduke Dando, organiser of Power Down).

I’ll be singing au naturel by candlelight, very atmospheric! the venue is an old converted church, so the acoustics should be superb. Drinks are organic beers & juices and kept chilled by the great outdoors.

There’ll be four acts on, I’ll be doing a 30 min set with guitarist Patrick Naylor, and will be debuting a couple of new songs too.  they have been cooking for a while and I’d like you to hear them before they get overdone. no microphone to hide behind either… a truly acoustic experience.

Without wanting to sound hype-y, this event is going to be special, both in its aim and its execution. something you will walk away from with a good feeling inside.
Please spread the word and let people know that it is happening. bring friends or send them in your stead.

Really hope you’ll be able to make it,

all best wishes,
Saraxx
